Three shops, three numbers

We name a pharmacy only with its written permission, and most owners would rather we did not. So here are their numbers without their names.

Why there are no logos on this page

A wall of pharmacy logos is the cheapest thing on a marketing site to fake and the most expensive to be caught faking. This market is small enough that a named shop will be asked, and an owner who never agreed to appear here would be entitled to be angry about it.

So the rule is simple. No pharmacy is named on this page without written permission on file, with the date it was given and a date to look at it again. When a permission is withdrawn the name comes off by itself on the next page load — nobody has to remember.

Most owners say no, which is their right and is usually the same instinct that makes them careful with their stock. The three below agreed to the numbers and not to the name, so that is what you get: what changed, by how much, and who is saying it.

Case studies

What changed, and by how much

  • Expiry write-off ৳18,000 to ৳4,000 a month

    A three-branch pharmacy in Mirpur

Three counters, one owner, and no way to tell which branch was sitting on what. Batch and expiry went in first, then a weekly list of everything dying inside ninety days went to each branch manager. Five months on, the monthly write-off had fallen by roughly three quarters.

  • Counter cash unexplained on 11 days a month, then 1

    A single-counter shop in Chattogram

The owner suspected a gap between what was sold and what reached the drawer and could never prove it either way. Day-close against the counted drawer, and every sale tied to whoever rang it up, and the argument stopped being about people. What is left is usually a voided receipt nobody mentioned.

  • Credit ledger recovered ৳62,000 in a quarter

    A hospital-gate pharmacy in Rajshahi

Half the trade was on credit, written in a notebook only the owner could read. With the baki ledger in the product, anybody at the counter can say what a customer owes without fetching him. Balances that had quietly been given up on came back in over three months.

The part I did not expect is that I stopped arguing with my staff. The screen says who sold what, so there is nothing left to argue about.
Owner, three-branch pharmacy, Mirpur
I used to count the drawer twice and still not know. Now the difference is a number on the screen, and most days it is zero.
Owner, single-counter pharmacy, Chattogram
My son set it up in an afternoon. The training was for the two boys at the counter, and it took one evening.
